Joshua Enrichment Program July 20-24, 2015
Joshua Enrichment Program (JEP) – Joshua had been chosen and appointed by God to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land.
“Joshua is a powerful story of hope in which the promise of God, the will of God, and the guarantees of God all come together to provide a safe haven for a people lost in the wilderness.” (Our Hope is Over Jordan, Homer U. Ashby, Jr. 2003)
Joshua spoke publicly of his own willingness to serve God. “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
Asbury UMC is excited and blessed to have the Joshua Enrichment Program (JEP) here at the church. Held Monday through Friday, from about 8am until 2pm each day, during the week of July 20 – 24, 2015. The JEP will be a week of fun activities and projects, and academic enrichment. NOTE: Currently offered only to family and relatives of members of the congregation or attendees of Asbury UMC.
Mission: To provide a safe and nurturing learning environment where youth have the opportunity to be enlightened and challenged in their way of thinking. Through stability, commitment, patience, love, and spiritual guidance the JEP will be a positive and healthy influence in the lives of each youth that is part of the program. We believe that the Gospel has a message for the youth and through spiritual development, academic enrichment, and behavioral excellence we can address their needs in our church and community.
Vision: We are God’s people, a body of Christ, whose purpose is to make known the love, grace, and power of God by preparing our youth to become responsible, caring, and self-sufficient members of their community.
Beliefs: Asbury United Methodist Church is one of the oldest and most viable historically black churches in the Western Maryland area. As a body of Christian believers, we are spiritually led to spread the gospel and serve the entire community.
