Greetings from the Mission Committee
The Mission Committee and members of the congregation are in full swing performing fun and exciting mission activities to support those in need in our community and around the world.
So far this year, we have supported Convoy of Hope and Habitat for Humanity. We have also continued our support to Lincoln Elementary, West Frederick Middle and Frederick High Schools by donating hygiene supplies to the homeless children in those schools.
This year, we are also excited to partner with the Kondanani Children’s Village in Malawi, Africa where we are making pillowcase dresses for girls and shorts for boys for their children. We also will be holding a school supply drive shortly to help support the children’s orphanage there.
Mission members also supported an effort to sort and package a shipment of men, women and children’s clothing which was sent to a United Methodist Appalachian Ministry.
We are excited by our Clothes Closet and Food Pantry, which is supporting many people in our community. Currently, we are serving about 35-40 people per week.
Upcoming Mission Activities are:
- Visit to the Frederick Women’s Detention Center
- Visit to a local Nursing Home
- Domestic Mission Trip
- Crop Walk for Hunger
- Thanksgiving Community Dinner
- Salvation Army Ringing of the Bell
- Salvation Army Children Christmas Stockings
- Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Ministry
- Christmas Community Dinner
Information regarding each activity will be announced in advance to give all the opportunity to participate. We look forward to working with the congregation and all ministries to make these activities successful. The Mission Ministry is always looking for new members. Please consider joining the mission committee because there is much work to be done. If you would like to join or would like more information regarding mission activities, contact Georgette Ambush.
God Bless You
The Mission Committee
