Community Block Party Thank You
The spirit of togetherness and community was ever present throughout the street of West All Saints Street during our annual community block party. The book of Nehemiah is filled with stories of how the community came together to rebuild the ruined wall of Israel. Its lesson to all of us shows the beauty of community and how when working together much can be accomplished for the glory of God. That lesson is not lost to us at Asbury UMC and we thanked everyone who came, helped, fellowshipped and enjoyed the day yesterday.
We thank our sister church, All Saints’ Episcopal church, for their ever willing heart and faithful spirit to always say yes to help us. New Dimension Worship Center, another willing vessel of God, for stepping in to run our food drop at the community block party. We thank you. Paul Foss for his continual reach to spread the gospel through action. We love you. What a blessing it was yesterday and will be moving forward with Pastor Jonathan Switzer, a powerful force for the Kingdom, who had boundless energy and a team of willing hands/feet to help us with all the set-up/tear-down yesterday. Thank you for blessing us with your team, especially the kids. What a great example of Christ’s command of letting the children come!! Hallelujah. Danielle Haskins—thank you for always ensuring that our community has access to COVID vaccines. You are such a force and we thank you.
We thank all the wonderful community organizations/non-profits who braved the heat to come out for a day of getting together and sharing your resources with this beauty community. We thank Delaplaine Foundation for blessing us with a grant to help make all of this come true. Thank you to Frederick Latin Groove for blessing us with dance. Thank you Yogamour for chair yoga demonstrations. Thank you to CJ Donaldson for blessing us with line dancing. We also give special thanks to Lennard Jack and Fusion for the wonderful Caribbean sounds, Omega Psi Phi and Alpha Kappa Alpha for giving us an enjoyable step/slide show presentation, and for the Road Knights Car club for showing off those beautiful cars!!
Lastly, thank you to all who donated to our drive for both Centro Hispano and Hearty House. We will be presenting their donations this week.
In all, God remains and is always faithful and we, at Asbury UMC, thank you all for making this a beautiful day.
