So the Guilty Could be Made Free
Recently I realized, (or re-realized, rather) that I just want to be genuine. I want to be a real Christian. I decided that I want to stand out from people who quote cliches like scripture and judge others based on how they act or how they dress.
If there was one thing I think the church should be about would be to lead people to a real experience with God.
A real experience can be hard to come by. Its not hard to come by but its hard not to be self conscious, its hard to get over that “Am I doing this churchy religious thing right?” feeling. Its hard not to feel other people’s eyes on you, whether they are actually judging you or not. It’s hard to give yourself permission to get an audience with God. That long train of thoughts like “I’m not good enough” or “why would God care about me” can parade before an open heart and paralyze it.
I don’t believe God made the church to make people feel guilty. I believe he made it so that the guilty could be made free.
Relax. Jesus loves you no matter what. You just have to let him.
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36
